“There is ample evidence that one of the major differences between poor and good readers is the difference in the quantity of total time they spend reading.” - National Reading Panel, 2000
Reading at home is homework for 5th grade -- an average of twenty minutes daily. Students may check out 1 book from the library each week and may borrow from our classroom library. Monthly or weekly visits to the public library are encouraged. Please see "40 Book Challenge" tab for additional information.
Spelling and vocabulary is worked on daily in class, but your child may also need to practice at home. Spellingcity.com is available for home practice. Students will get their password the first week of school. Math homework is available for parents that request it.
